SLRAMS - Web Application

The Sri Lankan Road Development Authority (RDA) is responsible for the construction, rehabilitation, maintenance and operation of the nation’s approximately 12,000 km (18,000 lane-km) of national highways. It operates with the objective of upgrading the National Highway Network to meet the expectations of all stakeholders and to make the Road Development Authority an institution of multidisciplinary excellence in Highway Engineering.

In the early 2000s, RDA went through a major restructuring process, with a funding arrangement from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). During this transition, RDA inherited the incumbent Asset Information Management System (AIMS) for pavement assets consisting of the HIMS database and the HDM-4 decision support tool.

Over the past decade, despite huge investments being made on the road network, RDA's asset management systems have largely remained the same.RDA has made progress in its asset management practices to the extent that it has developed database systems or spread sheets for its bridge, slope and roadside furniture assets, however, with the lack of automation.

RDA, through this project, deployed a comprehensive Sri Lanka Road Asset Management System (SLRAMS) for all road related assets, such as pavement, bridge, slope and roadside furniture etc. SLRAMS facilitates a strategic and systematic process of maintaining, upgrading, and operating road assets effectively. Information collected and made available through this system will be useful for the agencies responsible for road development and maintenance, investors, as well as road users.

The system was developed by SATRA Infrastructure Management Services Pvt Ltd., India, a subsidiary of HIMS Ltd, New Zealand.
